Essence Healthcare has been awarded an Overall Plan Rating of 5 out of 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the HMO plans in Central Arkansas, the Cincinnati area (Kentucky and Indiana), the Louisville and Lexington areas (Kentucky and Indiana), the greater St. Louis area, the Missouri county of Boone and Southwest Missouri. The PPO plans are too new to be measured for a Star rating.

Why is the Medicare star rating important?
Star ratings were created by CMS to give you an impartial view of the quality of the Medicare plans available in your area. Each year, after an intensive review process by CMS, plans are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 1 being “poor” and 5 being “excellent.”

To find a Medicare plan’s star rating, use the Medicare.gov plan finder tool or call 1-800-Medicare (TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day/seven days a week. You can simultaneously compare plan benefits, costs and star ratings on plans in your area.
