Introduction to Essence Kentucky
What is Essence?
Thank you for your interest in Essence. Our Essence Standard Plan is offered by Essence LLP, a Medicare Advantage Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). The Medicare program pays us to manage health services for people with Medicare who are members of Essence. Essence is not a "Medigap" or supplemental Medicare insurance policy. If you enroll in Essence, you are still covered by Original Medicare, but you are getting your Medicare services as a member of Essence. Essence provides medical services through Medicare-certified health care facilities. In addition, our health care professionals are in compliance with Medicare credentialing standards.
Essence gives you all the Medicare benefits and services that Medicare covers for everyone. We also give you some additional services such as vision, preventive dental, and non-urgent transportation. Since Essence is a Medicare HMO, this means that you would be getting most or all of your health services from the doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers that are part of Essence.
Essence Kentucky Service Area
The service area for this plan includes: Bullitt, Fayette, Jefferson, and Woodford Counties in Kentucky; and Clark County in Indiana. You must live in one of these areas to join the plan.
Who is Eligible to Join Essence?
You can join Essence Standard Plan if you are entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Part B and live in the service area. However, individuals with End Stage Renal Disease are generally not eligible to enroll in Essence Standard Plan unless they are members of our organization and have been since their dialysis began. You cannot enroll in this plan if your current or former employer or union (or your spouse's current or former employer or union) helps pay for your drugs.
